In October 1999, Tony Hales joined HealthScribe as President with a task of overseeing all of the company's operations in India. In July the next year, he was appointed as CEO of HealthScribe India Limited. During his tenure the organization witnessed tremendous growth. The company's annual turnover grew from $2.5m to $8.0m. Further, the employee strength grew from a mere 350 to over 2000 qualified medical transcriptionists.
Prior to his appointment at HealthScribe, Tony was given the task of turning around the fortunes of a ERP based software firm, with offices in the UK and Europe. In 9 months of his appointment as MD, the company boasted of profits. His mantra of high quality customer service, stringent project implementation processes and focussed selling worked the magic for the firm.
Tony Hales' richest International experience is however drawn from his years with Reuters PLC. He was the Head of Finance for Reuters in Italy and the Netherlands. Resolving highly complex transfer pricing and tax structuring issues, the setting up of sustainable financial & human resources, were some of his responsibilities. Soon afterwards, in early 1990's, his hand in the restructuring of a highly dysfunctional UK division hailed his entry into the General Management of the company. He delivered again in the area of sales, when he was asked to oversee sales, field services and the data management centre. The last portfolio held by Tony Hales was with Reuters Healthcare, where he was both as the Finance and Operations Director, of the UK market. The experience he drew from this role has largely contributed to his success in the field of both Healthcare Finance and Services.
In May 2002 Tony impacted the BPO services market, with the launch of his own enterprise - Healthoffice India Pvt Ltd.
